Computer
Ensure that the PC or modem is plugged into a working phone line (check for any interference or Voicemail-waiting on the line)
If you have a separate / external modem, ensure that this has power
Switch off your computer, wait 30 seconds, and reboot
Check all the connectors and cables from your PC modem and phone line are inserted correctly
